Run 2/23

Bad run today. And it was only about 3.5 miles...that should be easy! I ran outside and got cramps in my feet, my face was so frozen I could hardly stand it (at first anyway - that got much better), and I kept getting terrible side stitches. And I have learned that my Nike+ is not really very accurate. After running with it on a treadmill and the Mud Creek trail (where distances are marked), I know that it is nearly half a mile off. I did not calibrate it before using it so I guess I'll do that and see what happens. Otherwise I'll just start adding half a mile to it each time I run. That sucks too, because it was making me feel so good about my runs! However, I'm just as slow as I thought I was...ha! I really don't care that much about time though so I need to stop getting so hung up on it.

I will say that after today I'm worried I'll never make it to 6+ miles...I know I can, but it seems so impossible after today's run!

And this has sort of become my place to vent about my training...so bear with me, those 3 of you who read this ;)

Official announcement

I'm gonna run a Hogeye Marathon relay. That's it. I announced it to the world. Ok so there are only a few people who read this (and considering how little I post there may be none of you left!), but it still makes it real to me if I feel like others know about it and will hold me to it!

I've been running some on a treadmill, but never outside. Today was the day that I needed to do my "long" run (don't really think you can consider 4 miles long, but anyway) and I took to the street to do it! It was 33 degrees and I was so dreading it!

But ya know what? It wasn't so bad. I actually forgot about the cold and it was way better than running in heat. And I felt great other than some pretty nagging foot cramps. Plan to discuss this with the pros at Fleet Feet and see what they say. My shoes are pretty new and the shoes they told me I needed to buy. So we'll see.

According to my Nike+, I ran 4.15 miles in 39:51. Really? How can that be? I never run that fast. I'm not convinced it's accurate but I'm still pretty proud of myself! And so the training officially begins...
